Glazing

Our range of picture glass is broad, giving you the most options possible when framing your works. The most exciting advances in glass has been in the Specialist Glass area. As well as protection from UV damage our range of Art Glass products have been treated to become almost invisible.

To make the most of every piece of work we have ensured that we offer both glass with incredible properties and glass that is cost effective.

Standard glazing:

2mm float, 3mm float, 2mm diffused, 3-6mm mirror, 2mm acrylic

Specialist Glazing:

2mm Art Glass AR70/92/99, 3mm Art Glass AR70/92/99, 3mm Art Shield Acrylic

  • Even low levels of UV radiation cause damage if long-term exposure is allowed. This can present: Fading, Structural Damage and fading

  • Most pieces will use 2mm but some need 3mm. 3mm gives strength and stability to larger pieces but adds weight. The rule of thumb is to use 3mm when glass size is a meter squared.

  • Glass and acrylic both have unique pros and cons.

Glass is less likely to mark and does not discolour but is easily broken. On the other hand, Acrylic is very resistant to breaking but will scratch easily and discolour over time.

To make the most of your piece we will be able to advise at the workshop the best choice for your budget.
